Fire Doors in Wimborne
We look after fire doors in Wimborne Minster and the surrounding area, for flats, period and commercial buildings, retirement schemes and communal areas. In short, that means inspection, remedial works, installation and replacement.
A HISTORIC MARKET TOWN
Wimborne Minster is a historic market town, and its buildings reflect that. There are Georgian and period properties around the Minster and the Square, characterful commercial premises through the town centre, and the residential areas of Colehill, Merley, Canford Bottom, Stapehill and the surrounding villages. Older and converted buildings bring their own fire door questions. For example, original doors of unknown construction, doors altered over the years, and communal areas in converted properties that still have to protect a shared escape route. Meanwhile, newer developments and retirement schemes around the town add modern blocks to the mix.
We work with management companies, RMCs, managing agents, landlords and leaseholders across Wimborne. First, we carry out a thorough inspection and give you a clear report. Then we carry out the remedial works to bring each door back to a compliant standard.
It might be a fire door inspection for a block of flats in Colehill, remedial repairs to a communal door in Merley or a new certified FD30 doorset in Corfe Mullen. Wherever you are, we cover Wimborne and the surrounding area.

RECENT PROJECT
A made-to-measure fire door for Rise School
Rise School in Wimborne needed a cupboard doorway upgraded to a certified fire door, to close an action from their fire risk assessment. The opening was a non-standard size, so we had the door made to measure. We then fitted it outside school hours, with no disruption to staff or pupils. Read the case study →

WHY IT MATTERS
Compliant doors, evidenced on paper
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022, whoever is responsible for a building has a duty to keep its fire doors in effective working order, and to be able to prove it (full text on legislation.gov.uk). That is especially worth bearing in mind with older and converted buildings, where a door’s history is not always clear. So we photograph, measure and record every inspection and repair. That way, you hold the evidence a fire risk assessor, insurer or the Building Safety Regulator will want to see.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Fire doors in Wimborne: common questions
What fire door services do you offer in Wimborne?
Everything a building needs over the life of its doors: fire door inspections, repairs and remedial works, installation of certified doorsets, scheduled maintenance and Level 4 fire risk assessments. Every job is photographed and recorded door by door, so you hold the evidence.
How much does an inspection cost?
Routine inspections are £20 +VAT per single door and £25 +VAT per double door, with a £200 +VAT minimum charge per visit. Regulation 10 checks on doors we have already fully inspected are £10 +VAT per door. Repairs and replacements are quoted per door from the report. Our cost guide has typical figures.
Who is responsible for the doors in a block of flats?
The responsible person under the Fire Safety Order 2005, usually the freeholder, RMC or managing agent, must make sure communal doors and flat entrance doors perform. Leaseholders often own their flat entrance door, but the responsible person still carries the duty. Our guides on the responsible person and who pays explain the split.
Which regulations apply to a block in Wimborne?
The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 applies to the common parts of every block. The Fire Safety Act 2021 brings flat entrance doors into the fire risk assessment. In blocks over 11 metres, the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 add quarterly checks of communal doors and annual checks of flat entrance doors. Our legislation hub explains each one in plain English.
Which parts of Wimborne do you cover?
All of Wimborne Minster, plus Colehill, Merley, Canford Magna, Corfe Mullen, Sturminster Marshall, Pamphill and the surrounding villages. We are based twenty-five minutes away in Christchurch, so short visits and follow-ups are no problem.
