FIRE DOOR INSTALLATION · WIMBORNE

Fire Door Installation in Wimborne

Our fire door installation in Wimborne covers certified, made-to-measure doorsets, supplied and fitted with full documentation. We also install around your operating hours, so disruption stays to a minimum.

CERTIFIED DOORSETS, PROPERLY FITTED

A fire door only does its job when the whole doorset is right. That means the door, frame, seals, ironmongery and signage all installed to the manufacturer’s certified specification. We supply and fit complete certified fire doorsets across Wimborne, from a single door to a full programme, with the documentation to prove it.

We work with schools, managing agents, landlords and local businesses. In each case, we handle the whole job, from survey and made-to-measure manufacture through to installation and sign-off.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

What a compliant fire door installation in Wimborne involves

The certified doorset and frame. A tested door leaf and frame fitted to the exact certified spec, with made-to-measure manufacture where an opening is a non-standard size.

Intumescent fire and smoke seals. Correct-spec seals fitted to the door and frame, so the doorset resists both fire and cold smoke.

Correct fire-rated ironmongery. CE-marked fire hinges, a controlled self-closer where required, and certified locks and latches. All of it is compatible with the doorset’s certification.

Signage, architraves and making good. The correct fire-door signage, new architraves and any bulkhead or infill work, finished tidily and handed over with certification.

RECENT PROJECT · WIMBORNE

Case study: a made-to-measure fire door for Rise School, Wimborne

Rise School in Wimborne needed a cupboard doorway upgraded to a certified fire door, to satisfy an action from their fire risk assessment. The opening was a non-standard size, so we had the door manufactured made-to-measure to fit exactly. We carried the work out quickly and efficiently outside the school’s operating hours. As a result, there was no disruption to staff or pupils.

The fire door installation included a new certified door leaf and frame, new architraves, a bulkhead panel above the opening, intumescent fire and smoke strips, fire-door signage and an FB2 lock. At the school’s request, we left the door undecorated, because their own decorators were following on immediately after us.

WHY IT MATTERS

Installed right, certified and documented

A fire door only performs as intended if you install it exactly as it was tested: correct frame, gaps, seals and ironmongery. A certified doorset fitted properly gives you demonstrable, documented compliance that stands up to an inspection or a fire risk assessment. For more on the standard we work to, see Approved Document B. That is what we deliver on every install.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Fire door installation in Wimborne: common questions

How much does fire door installation in Wimborne cost?

A certified FD30 single doorset supplied and fitted usually falls between £600 and £1,300 +VAT, depending on rating, size, glazing and ironmongery. FD60 and double doorsets cost more. For anything beyond a single door we survey first and give you an itemised, per-door quote. Our cost guide has typical figures.

How long does a replacement take?

We make doorsets to measure at our Christchurch depot from certified components, so lead times are usually shorter than buying in. The Rise School doorset was made to a non-standard opening for exactly that reason. Fitting a single doorset typically takes a few hours. On a block we phase the work so no flat is left without a door overnight.

Do I need FD30 or FD60?

Most flat entrance and communal doors need FD30S: 30 minutes fire resistance with cold smoke seals. FD60 is used where the fire strategy or Approved Document B calls for 60 minutes, such as some plant rooms and protected shafts. Your fire risk assessment or the building drawings will say which. If not, we advise on survey.

Will the new door match the existing ones?

Usually, yes. Doorsets come in a range of veneers, paint finishes and vision panel layouts, and we specify to match the corridor. Where a like-for-like match is not certified, we will say so and offer the closest compliant option.

What paperwork do I get?

The doorset’s certification and data sheet, the components fitted, and a photographed installation record for each door. That is the evidence a fire risk assessor, insurer or the Building Safety Regulator will ask to see.

Do you install fire doors in schools and commercial buildings as well as flats?

Yes. Rise School in Wimborne is a recent example, and we work for offices, care homes and retail sites across Dorset. Whatever the building, the doorset is fitted to its test evidence and photographed for your records. If a door only needs repair, we will tell you that first; see our guide to repair or replace.
