WHY SECTOR MATTERS
Fire doors by sector: the same door, a different job
A fire door does the same physical job everywhere: it holds back fire and smoke for 30 or 60 minutes. However, what the law expects of you, and what goes wrong in practice, changes with the building. In a block of flats, the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 set fixed check intervals, and flat entrance doors are the battleground. Care homes and hotels are different: people are asleep and may not evacuate, so compartmentation carries the strategy. Meanwhile, in a school or warehouse, doors get propped open and knocked about, so wear is the issue. Therefore, we plan each programme around the sector, not a generic checklist.
Whatever the building, you get the same team and the same evidence: an ABBE Level 3 qualified inspector, a Level 4 fire risk assessor, DBS-checked staff, and a photographed record for every door. See our inspections, repairs, installation and fire risk assessment services, or the case studies for real jobs in each setting.
